We heard today that the German authorities won’t accept the certified copy (signed by a solicitor) of my boyfriend’s passport. Apparently only a recognised authority will do.

We learned that it is possible to get a signed, certified copy from larger Royal Mail post offices. So my boyfriend will take his passport to the nearest authorised post office tomorrow.

The birth certificate, together with apostille, finally arrived today!! I will forward it to my brother, who has arranged the necessary translation, tomorrow.

After all the trouble that my future parents-in-law have gone to, I will be sending it with a personal armed guard.. Well, maybe not quite. But it will be sent recorded delivery so I can track it every step of the way.

At last, now he can make an appointment with the Registrar in Germany. Things are finally hotting up!
